Hitting the trail

In this little window of time on the Saylorville bike trail, the phlox, the honeysuckle, and the black locust trees are all showing off their blossoms.  And the white oaks, although not in bloom, display their bright new leaves in graded hues that will become uniformly deep emerald by midsummer. The phlox are the gaudiest of the bunch; the honeysuckle send their invitation subtlely via the breeze, and the locusts appear as pale ghosts in the distance or through the intensifying green of the canopy. I can't say which is my favorite.
