Metro wetlands

The west loop of the Sycamore bike trail, north of Euclid, parallels the levee and passes by the Tai Village community center, built by the Thai Dam community in 2013. The center was built on the edge of the bluff rising from the floodplain, and it overlooks an area that might have once and could again be a park. An ancient-looking, abandoned truck sits collapsed up the hill a ways, looking almost sculptural but presumably a remnant of past efforts at renovation. A bit further along is a picturesque pond and wetland that might have been carved out by the river's course in an earlier age.  This was actually my first time following this loop (I have always taken the east bank trail going north, but it's closed for renovation) and I was surprised at the compact natural beauty of this spot, sporting the intense greens of an emerging season, but so close to the bustle and grind of North Metro traffic.
