Barcelona, Day 1

Barcelona, which really doesn't want to be part of Spain, is a bit of a cipher so far. I think I like it though. I certainly like the view from our apartment, close to the Sagrada familia and the famous hospital.

All the intersections in our district have this unique octagonal structure with the corners cut out. Gives a much more spacious feel (but walking up the street takes longer if you obey the crosswalks).

I love this building with its ship-like top storey with multiple chimneys and angles.

Not as ominous as it looks - I think this is used to get large appliances into the upper stories.
